In Defense of Animals (IDA) Founded in 1983 by Dr. Elliot Katz DVM, In Defense of Animals is an international animal rights and rescue organization dedicated to protecting the rights, welfare and habitats of animals. We are supported by a network of tens of thousands of determined activists, dedicated volunteers, interns and donors. We work to expose and end animal experimentation; protect wildlife and restore balance in their natural habitats; end the exploitation and abuse of wild species living in captivity, protect domestic and wild species worldwide from abuse and slaughter for food, conduct cruelty investigations and rescue operations, and provide veterinary care for sick, abused and orphaned animals in our natural habitat sanctuaries.+
International Animal Rescue At International Animal Rescue we do exactly what our name says – we save animals from suffering around the world. Our work includes cutting free and caring for dancing bears in India, rescuing primates from captivity in Indonesia and sterilising and vaccinating stray dogs and cats in developing countries. Wherever possible we return rescued animals to their natural environment but we also provide a permanent home for animals that can no longer survive in the wild. As human populations expand, wildlife comes under increasing threat. By rescuing individual animals belonging to species like the orangutan and reintroducing them into protected areas in the wild, our work also plays a role in the conservation of the species as a whole.
International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) IFAW (the International Fund for Animal Welfare) saves animals in need all around the world. With projects in more than 40 countries, we rescue individual animals, campaign to prevent animal cruelty and advocate for the protection of wildlife and habitats.
International Primate Protection League IPPL is a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the world's remaining primates, great and small. We also operate a sanctuary for gibbons (the smallest of the apes) in South Carolina and support primate rescue efforts worldwide, especially in countries where primates are native. Our goal is to keep these uniquely threatened animals safe from human cruelty, negligence, and exploitation, envisioning a world where all primates can thrive in their native habitats.
Italian Horse Protection Association The Italian Horse Protection Association (IHP) is the only rescue center in Italy for mistreated and confiscated equines, based on Law 189 of 2004. The main goal of the Italian Horse Protection Association is the psychological and physical recovery of equines, subjected to sequestration under Law 189 of 2004. Beyond that it strives to raise awareness of the ethological characteristics and the specific needs of the equine species. In IHP's view equines are very often misunderstood by their human counterparts, resulting sometimes in unintentional mistreatment due to this lack of understanding.
